Connect Your AI Assistant (Claude, ChatGPT…)

Your assistant is brilliant — but it doesn't know who Sarah is, what you promised her last spring, or which project you're pushing this week. Keepsake does. Connect the two and your assistant works with your memory instead of starting from scratch every time. The connection uses MCP (Model Context Protocol), an open standard: 83 tools covering contacts, companies, tasks, time blocks, notes and margin comments, dated notes, entries, tags and days. What your assistant can do with Keepsake

A few things people ask their assistant once it's connected:

Prepare a meeting

"I'm seeing Sarah tomorrow — what should I remember?" The assistant reads her profile, the latest entries of her history and your open tasks with her, and gives you a short brief.

Turn a conversation into tasks

"Create the follow-ups from this call: send the quote Friday, call Marc next week." The tasks land in your Today view on the right days, linked to the right people.

Log what happened

"Log my lunch with Tom today — we talked about his move to Lyon." An entry of the right type joins Tom's history.

Annotate a note in the margin

Ask for a review of a draft: the assistant leaves its remarks as comments in the margin, anchored to the passages they concern — it proposes, it doesn't rewrite your text.

Plan and review

"What's overdue? Compose my afternoon." — "Attach this agenda to Thursday." Your assistant can read your day, create time blocks and link notes to dates.

Tip

Talk to your assistant the way you'd talk to a colleague who has your notebook open. It will ask before doing anything you didn't ask for.

Connect Claude in one click (recommended)

The hosted connector needs no installation and no API key: you sign in to Keepsake and authorize the connection (OAuth). It works with Claude on the web, on iOS and in Claude Desktop. The address is:

Open Claude's connector settings

In Claude (web, iOS or Desktop): Settings → Connectors, then Add custom connector.

Paste the address

Paste https://app.keepsake.place/api/mcp and confirm.

Sign in and authorize

A Keepsake window opens: sign in if needed, then authorize. You're connected — try "List my overdue tasks".

Tip

Connect it once on claude.ai and the connector follows you on the Claude mobile app.

ChatGPT, Cursor and other assistants

The same address works with any assistant that supports remote MCP servers. Clients that don't handle OAuth yet use an API key instead: create one in Keepsake under Settings → API Keys, then add it as a Bearer token.

ChatGPT

MCP support in ChatGPT is rolling out through custom connectors. Where it's available, paste the same address.

Cursor, Cline, Windsurf

Add a remote MCP server with the address above and the header Authorization: Bearer ksk_… (your API key). Copy-paste configurations are on the Keepsake for AI page.

Claude Code

Run claude mcp add --transport http keepsake https://app.keepsake.place/api/mcp — the authorization flow opens by itself.

Local install: npx or .mcpb extension

Prefer running the server on your own machine? Two options, both with an API key.

npx (any MCP client)

Add a server to your client's MCP configuration with the command npx -y keepsake-mcp and the environment variable KEEPSAKE_API_KEY set to your key.

One-click extension for Claude Desktop (.mcpb)

Download the .mcpb extension from the Keepsake for AI page, double-click it to install it in Claude Desktop, and paste your API key when asked.

Your data, your rules

Connecting an assistant opens a door to your memory. Here's how you keep the key.

Scoped to your account

Each connection only ever sees your own data. An API key can be created read-only if you just want your assistant to consult, not write.

Every change is visible

Everything an assistant creates, edits or deletes through the API is recorded in the API Activity feed, inside Keepsake: what changed, and through which key.

Revocable at any time

Revoke an API key in Settings → API Keys, or remove the connector from your assistant's settings. Access stops immediately.

What your assistant reads

Keepsake never uses your content to train AI models. What your assistant reads, though, goes through its provider (Anthropic, OpenAI…) under that provider's own policy — connect only the assistants you trust. See Privacy.

Tip

Notes and entries sometimes contain text that looks like an instruction. The Keepsake tools tell assistants to treat everything stored as data, never as commands — your assistant acts on what you ask, not on what a note says.
