Global Search — Find Anything Instantly

Keepsake's global search lets you find anything in your workspace in seconds — contacts, pages, tasks, notes, archived notes, and journal entries. Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) from anywhere in the app to open it. It searches across everything simultaneously and takes you directly where you need to go.

What Gets Searched

The search looks across 7 types of content simultaneously, returning up to 5 results per category.
1

Pages/Tags

Your project pages and topics, matched by name.

2

Contacts

People in your CRM, matched by first name, last name, or company.

3

Companies

Company profiles, matched by name.

4

Tasks

Active tasks, matched by title and content.

5

Notes

All your notes — both active (Inbox) and archived — matched by full content. When searching for a note, you don't have to remember whether you archived it; archived ones simply carry an "Archived" badge.

6

Journal Entries

Dated entries and interactions, matched by full content.

Contextual Snippets

For tasks, notes, and entries, search results show a snippet of approximately 80 characters around the matched term — not just the title. The matching term is highlighted in the snippet, so you can quickly identify the right result without opening each one.

Filtering by Type

A tab bar at the top of search results lets you narrow down what you see.
1

All

Shows results from every category (default view).

2

Notes

Your notes, active and archived together — no separate Archives tab to think about.

3

Entries

Only journal entries and interactions.

4

Tasks

Only active tasks.

5

Contacts

Contacts and companies.

Tip

Use a specific tab when you know what kind of element you're looking for — it cuts through the noise fast.

Keyboard Navigation

The search is designed for keyboard-first use. You can search, navigate, and open results without ever touching the mouse.
1

↑ ↓ — Navigate results

Use the up and down arrow keys to move through the results list.

2

Enter — Open selected result

Press Enter to navigate directly to the highlighted result.

3

Escape — Close search

Press Escape to dismiss the search modal and return to your current view.

Creating a Page from Search

If your search returns no matching page or tag, an option appears at the bottom: "Create page [your search term]". Press Enter to instantly create a new tag/page with that name and navigate to it. This is also why the "New Page" option in the menu opens the search bar — it's the same flow.

Tip

Need a new project space? Just search for it. If it doesn't exist, create it in one keystroke.

Accent-Insensitive Search

Search ignores accents: typing "berenice" finds "Bérénice", and "resume" finds "résumé". This works for all element types — contacts, notes, entries, tasks, and pages. No need to remember exact accents — just type naturally.

Where Results Take You

Clicking or pressing Enter on a result navigates you directly to the right place. The search modal closes automatically.
1

Page/Tag

Opens the tag page view with all related content.

2

Contact

Opens the contact profile.

3

Task

Opens the tasks view.

4

Note

Opens the note. Active or archived, it opens the same way.

5

Journal Entry

Opens the day view for that entry's date.
